RamRide Secure

As CSU students continue to see an increase in financial insecurity RamRide is uniquely positioned to support students with their transportation security needs. Research shows us that students may have difficulty completing errands, getting to and from jobs, or attending classes and are less likely to access other basic needs if they do not have adequate transportation. This program is not intended to fill all transportation security gaps but serve as a complement to other transportation options available to students. RamRide Secure further supports transportation security needs of CSU students.

  • Students can apply below to receive up to $150 in credits
  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis
  • Decisions are subject to review
  • Credits can be used on Lyft rides, or Spin E-Bikes and E-Scooters where they are available through the Lyft app!

Examples of what RamRide Secure could be used for:

  • A student is experiencing a temporary transportation insecurity (bike stolen, car broken down) that would hinder their ability to access their education (Please know, that getting to and from a job, is something we’d consider to be beneficial to your education)
  • A student is experiencing a health concern (injury, sickness, etc.) that makes their other means of transportation not possible

Examples of what RamRide Secure should not be used for:

  • A student does not have a means of transportation to and from an off-campus job and this will be a long-term issue.
  • A student desires to take a Lyft to and from classes as opposed to taking other methods of public transportation because it is more convenient.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

With RamRide Secure, you will receive up to $150 in credits that can be used to your discretion for Lyft Rides, E-Bikes, or E-Scooters. This is determined through your application and what RamRide Secure staff determine to meet your needs.

An example is that a student receives 10, $15 Lyft credits to utilize for Lyft Car Rides if they are going to be without a vehicle and need access to transportation over extended distances. $15 is the average cost of a ride within the city of Fort Collins from the 2022 – 2023 school year.

Another option is that a student could receive $50 in Lyft credits to utilize Spin E-Scooters and/or E-Bikes. The average cost of a scooter ride is less than $8 and therefore students would be able to use the $50 until the amount was depleted.

And a third option could be that a student applies for RamRide Secure and would benefit from a bike rental for the semester. RamRide Secure’s team will work with the student and The Spoke to coordinate a bike rental for the semester. Student will be responsible if the bike is damaged or goes missing.

The (up to) $150 Lyft credits are to be used at your discretion, which can include use in the summer.

When using the Lyft app, enter the unique code in the “rewards” section to redeem. These codes can also be used to access Spin E-Bikes and E-Scooters as well.
