Welcome

Thanks to all the volunteers. RamRide was able to give 961 people safe rides home this  past weekend! Join in the effort by filling out the volunteer application and volunteering a night!

RamRide is a safe ride program modeled after the CARPOOL program at Texas A&M. RamRide provides safe, nonjudgemental rides for CSU students with the goal of improving safety of the Fort Collins community. Rides are provided Thursday from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am, and Friday & Saturday nights from 10:00 pm to 3:00 am but do not run during school holidays or during the summer.

RamRide provides rides without asking for the age of the rider or the reason that they need a ride. RamRide is operated through the Associated Students of Colorado State University (ASCSU), in conjunction with Colorado State University and the support of outside vendors.

RamRide is unique from other safe ride programs in that it offers free rides to anyone without passing judgment about the circumstances. It runs entirely off of donations and in-kind gifts, along with possible University sponsorship, as well as grant funding. RamRide will have non-profit status through the university.

Volunteers are used for all aspects of the program, including manning the phone room, driving the vehicles, and serving as a navigator for the drivers. Each position has different eligibility requirements. To be a driver, you must be 18. All the other positions require you to be 18 years of age as well.  Every volunteer will need to watch a training video the night they volunteer in order to be prepared for their duties. This video covers topics like defensive driving, alcohol poisoning, and examples of common situations that arise while volunteering

Important Information

  • RamRide only provides rides to an individual’s home. Drivers will not take passengers to parties, clubs, or bars.

  • Each RamRide vehicle is equipped with a cell phone, trash bags, plastic gloves, flashlights, area map, first aid equipment, and emergency policy information.
  • RamRide headquarters maintains a direct line of communication with each vehicle at all times.
  • RamRide uses a status board to constantly monitor the location and number of passengers within each RamRide vehicle at all times.
  • RamRide members can easily be identified by their distinctive shirts and the presence of the RamRide logo.
