No- you could have a friend, roommate, etc., volunteer on behalf of your student org. Please know that all volunteers must be able to provide a valid CSUID as well as pass an MVR check.

You may read about the specific disqualifying conditions in the University Vehicles policy.

We will inform the Team Leader that the student org member does not qualify to be a RamRide driver. If that happens, the group will need to replace that member with a qualified driver. If you are concerned about a member passing an MVR check, your group may opt to submit up to 2 backups.

  • No, University policy requires RamRide drivers to have had a US driver’s license for at least 1 year.
  • All other programs at CSU have a 2-year requirement, RamRide was given an exception.

When you volunteer, you will need to tell the RamRide staff which organization you are volunteering for that night (which org you are fundraising for that night).

  • You could volunteer on behalf of an organization
  • At this time, RamRide will not be allowing individual volunteers who are not volunteering on behalf of an organization.
  • We will be putting 100% of our focus on optimizing the student organization/fundraising model.
  • We hope to bring back individual volunteer opportunities in future semesters.

Volunteers need to be in the RamRide office by 8:30 pm, and plan to volunteer with RamRide through the completion of operations (between 2:30 am and 3:00 am).

Volunteers receive in-depth training each night before going out on the road that covers how operations work, emergency protocols/procedures, and there is time for questions.

You will be provided with a RamRide phone that has the dispatch system on it as well as any relevant phone numbers you may need in the contact list.

Most of the vehicles do not have Bluetooth. Many volunteers opt to bring a portable bluetooth speaker so that they are able to play their own music.

We generally have a mix of minivans and sedans. While you can choose your preference of vehicle type (depending on vehicle availability that night), you will not be able to choose which specific vehicle you will be assigned that night.

It should take 1-2 weeks for funds to be deposited into a SOFA

Funds can only be deposited into one SOFA, so they cannot be split up between multiple organizations. Funds also cannot be transferred to different accounts, whether that be a SOFA or another account.
